Pathways

Pathways is a sample-based Max for Live instrument by Dillon Bastan that allows users to draw paths (made of small points) for sample playback over a spectrogram interface. I was commisioned to design presets for it, and I’ve decided to use an electro magnetic field recording sample as my starting point. I decided to use this kind of sample first of all because I loved the sonic outcome, the resulting presets are very noisy and textural, and potentially usable in every electronic music genre; but also to give to every musician access to this sounds that are not conventional, and not available if not recorded with an EMF microphone .
